History of Subtropical Crops Department
In 2006, the chamber of subtropical cultures was created: merging subtropical fruit, lobby and subtropical tech crops (Prof. Aleksandre Mikeladze head of the department).
Since 2010, Department of Planting, Subtropical Crops and Landscape Architecture has been established, with the structure of the State Subtopic Agricultural University of Georgia joined AkakiTsereteli State University in autumn 2010.
From October 2011 to January 2013, Department of Subtropical Crops and Landscape architecturewas headed by Associate ProfessorMarietta Tabagari. Since reorganization of the Agricultural Faculty since January 2013, Department of Subtropical Crops has been established separately from M.Tabagari).
In September 2014, Department of Subtropical Crops is headed byAssociate Professor MziaKurdgelia.
Apart from the research and scientific-research institutes of the republic, the members of the Department have business relations with different curriculum and state institutions in the agricultural field of foreign countries. The professors of the Department of Subtropical Crops are carrying out fruitful scientific and pedagogic work. The training courses in the department were renewed and new textbooks were created, including in Russian. Training programs, syllabuses of study disciplines were improved. Classes are held in the illustrative material in electronic format, are held on-site practical training, study tours of different regions and scientific research institutions (Mtskheta, Saguramo, Senaki, Ozurgeti, Tsageri, Tskaltuboand others.) Where students are introduced to new agrotechnology, prospective rural-s Farmers' crops species and varieties. The academic staff of the Department is actively involved in various academic and scientific activities.
