Department of Geography

Since the day of foundation, there has been Department of Geography functioning at the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences, in the creation of which academicians Al. Javakhishvili, G. Dzodzenide, Al. Janelidze, M. Sabashvili, L. Maruashvili  have contributed much. At present, 7 professors and 4 invited specialists work at the department. The department offers educational programs of all the three levels of higher education (Bachelor, Master and Doctoral programs) where about 150 students and 4 Ph.D students are learning. Graduates of the specialization of Geography have a wide range of employment; they can work at public and private schools, protected territories, tourist organizations, landmarking and hydrometeorological services. During the whole period of studying students undergo not only theoretical courses, but also field-training practice both in different regions of Georgia and abroad (Turkey); and annually there takes place the summarizing conference and photo exhibition.
